Petrol Stations & Prices in Ireland
Most town and cities have several petrol stations on the major approach roads, they are easy to spot. Be careful when starting a journey that uses motorways for much of its length as there are currently no service stops on motorways in Ireland.
Grades & Fuel Types
All petrol sold in Ireland is unleaded and there are generally two grades available - standard and premium. Standard grade unleaded is the petrol used in almost all rental cars - 95 octane. Premium grade may have a different name depending on the fuel supplier as these are generally branded - 98 octane.
Some special equipment vehichles may be diesel and this will be advised on rental. All petrol stations will sell Diesel. Diesel pumps are usually very close to petrol but are distinguished by black colouring on the pump and associated signage.
Fuel Costs

Petrol prices in Ireland vary. Prices for the main grades of fuel must, by law, be prominently displayed so that they are clearly visible from the road. Most cars use small engines with low fuel consumption and driving distances in Ireland are not very long.
